The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament takes place in Samarkand, Uzbekistan which is 4 hours ahead of BST so 15:00 local time is 11am UK. The dates are Thu 4th Sep top Mon 15th Sep 2025. Players Open: Praggnanandhaa, Erigaisi, Gukesh, Firouzja, Keymer, Abdusattorov, Giri, Aronian, Nepomniachtchi, Mamedyarov, MVL, Niemann etc. Players Women: Muzychuk, Tan, Assaubayeva, Lagno etc play in the women's even which has suffered a number of withdrawals. Two players from each event qualify for the relevant Candidates tournaments. Gianluca Cantonetti contacted me about the app FomoChess which has a fantasy competition around this event, and had previously run one around Chennai. I can't tell you any more about it than that, but he sent me a nice email. It may be worth investigating.
